✧ I was in Kufa in my house when I heard at the door: "Peace be upon you. May I enter?" I said, "And upon you be peace. Enter." When he entered, it was Abdullah b. Mas'ud. I said, "O Abu Abd al-Rahman, what hour is this for a visit?" And that was at the time of the midday heat. He said, "The day became long for me, so I remembered someone with whom I could converse." Then he began to narrate to me from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and I narrated to him. He said, then he started to narrate to me and said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: 'There will be a tribulation in which the one lying down is better than the one reclining, and the one reclining is better than the one sitting, and the one sitting is better than the one standing, and the one standing is better than the one walking, and the one walking is better than the one riding, and the one riding is better than the one running.'" I said, "O Messenger of Allah, and when is that?" He said, "That is in the days of harj, when a man does not trust his companion." I said, "What do you command me to do if I live to see that time?" He said, "Restrain yourself and your hand, and enter your house." He said, I said, "O Messenger of Allah, what do you think if someone enters upon me in my house?" He said, "Then enter your room." He said, I said, "What do you think if someone enters upon me in my room?" He said, "Then enter your mosque and do like this," and he grasped his right hand on his wrist, "and say: My Lord is Allah, until you die upon that."
