أَخْبَرَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ التَّمِيمِيُّ ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْإِمَامُ أَنْبَأَ يُونُسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى أَنْبَأَ ابْنُ وَهْبٍ أَخْبَرَنِي بَكْرُ بْنُ مُضَرَ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ قَالَ
سَعْدُ بْنُ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ « [البحر الكامل] أَنَا ابْنُ مُسْتَجَابِ الدُّعَاءِ وَالسَّادُّ لِلثُّلْمَةِ لِلْمُصْطَفَى مِنَ الْعَرَبِ يَكْلَأُهَا لِلنَّبِيِّ مُحْتَسِبًا خُصَّ بِهَا دُونَ كُلِّ مُحْتَسِبِ وَاخْتَلَفَ النَّاسُ بَيْنَهُمْ فَأَبَى قِتَالَ أَهْلِ التَّوْحِيدِ وَالْكُتُبِ سَلَّمَهُ اللَّهُ لَمْ يُصَبْ أَحَدٌ مِنْهُمْ بِسَهْمٍ إِذًا وَلَمْ يُصَبْ»

✧ Sa'd b. Abi Waqqas said: [in the perfect meter] I am the son of the one whose supplication is answered and the repairer of the breach for the Chosen One among the Arabs, who guards it for the Prophet, seeking reward, singled out for it above every reward-seeker. The people differed among themselves, but he refused to fight the people of monotheism and the scriptures. May Allah keep him safe; none of them was struck by an arrow then, nor was he struck.
