حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الْحَافِظُ ثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ شَاذَانَ ثَنَا أَبُو هَمَّامٍ ثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ حَيَّانَ ثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ

أَنَّ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ وَزَيْدَ بْنَ ثَابِتٍ شَهِدَا جِنَازَةً فَلَمَّا أَرَادَ زَيْدٌ أَنْ يَرْكَبَ أَخَذَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ بِرِكَابِهِ فَقَالَ «تَنَحَّ يَا ابْنَ أَخِي» فَقَالَ «هَكَذَا يُصْنَعُ بِالْعُلَمَاءِ»

✧ Ibn Abbas and Zaid b. Thabit attended a funeral. When Zaid wanted to mount, Ibn Abbas took hold of his stirrup. He said, "Step aside, O son of my brother." He said, "Thus is done to the scholars."
