✧ I witnessed Ali on the day of Siffin while he was saying: “Who will pledge allegiance to me upon death?” or he said: “upon fighting?” Then ninety-nine pledged allegiance to him. He said: “Where is the completion? Where is the one I was promised?” Then a man came wearing ragged woolen clothes with a shaved head and pledged allegiance to him upon death and fighting. He said: “It was said: This is Uwais al-Qarni.” He kept fighting before him until he was killed.
