✧ The virtue of Khubbab b. al-Aratt, also known as Abu Abdullah: The controversy surrounding his lineage has increased, and it was said that Khubbab is an ally of the Banu Zuhra.

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُحَمَّدِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْأَزْهَرِيُّ ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ الْبَرَاءِ ثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْمَدِينِيُّ ثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ابْنِ أَخِي الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عَمِّهِ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ نَوْفَلٍ قَالَ

مَاتَ خَبَّابُ بْنُ الْأَرَتِّ سَنَةَ سَبْعٍ وَثَلَاثِينَ وَهُوَ أَوَّلُ مَنْ قَبَرَهُ عَلَيٌّ بِالْكُوفَةِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَأَوَّلُ مَنْ صَلَّى عَلَيْهِ بَعْدَ مَرْجِعِ أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ مِنْ صِفِّينَسكت عنه الذهبي في التلخيص

✧ Khabbab b. al-Aratt died in the year thirty-seven, and he was the first of the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ whom Ali buried in al-Kufah, and the first over whom he prayed after the return of the Commander of the Faithful from Siffin. Al-Dhahabi remained silent about it in the Talkhis.
