أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الْحَافِظُ أَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الثَّقَفِيُّ ثَنَا عَبَّادُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ الْعَنَزِيُّ ثَنَا حَبَّانُ ثَنَا شَرِيكُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ حَدَّثَنِي عُتْبَةُ بْنُ صَعْصَعَةَ بْنِ الْأَحْنَفِ عَنْ عِكْرَاشٍ قَالَ
كُنَّا نُقَاتِلُ عَلِيًّا مَعَ طَلْحَةَ وَمَعَنَا مَرْوَانُ قَالَ فَانْهَزَمْنَا قَالَ فَقَالَ مَرْوَانُ «لَا أُدْرِكُ بِثَأْرِي بَعْدَ الْيَوْمِ مِنْ طَلْحَةَ» قَالَ فَرَمَاهُ بِسَهْمٍ فَقَتَلَهُسكت عنه الذهبي في التلخيص
