أَخْبَرَنِي إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الشَّعْرَانِيُّ ثَنَا جَدِّي ثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْفَرْوِيُّ ثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ عِمْرَانَ قَالَ أَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ السُّلَمِيُّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ
لَمَّا انْصَرَفَ الزُّبَيْرُ يَوْمَ الْجَمَلِ جَعَلَ يَقُولُ « [البحر الكامل] وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْتُ لَوَ انَّ عِلْمِي نَافِعِي إِنَّ الْحَيَاةَ مِنَ الْمَمَاتِ قَرِيبُ» ثُمَّ لَمْ يَنْشَبْ أَنْ قَتَلَهُ ابْنُ جُرْمُوزٍ
