حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الدِّمَشْقِيُّ ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُبَارَكٍ الْغُورِيُّ ثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَمْزَةَ ثَنَا بُرْدُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ قَبِيصَةَ بْنِ ذُؤَيْبٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ
أَنَّ عُبَادَةَ بْنَ الصَّامِتِ أَنْكَرَ عَلَى مُعَاوِيَةَ أَشْيَاءَ ثُمَّ قَالَ لَهُ لَا أُسَاكِنُكَ بِأَرْضٍ فَرَحَلَ إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ فَقَالَ لَهُ عُمَرُ «مَا أَقْدَمَكَ إِلَيَّ لَا يَفْتَحُ اللَّهُ أَرْضًا لَسْتَ فِيهَا أَنْتَ وَأَمْثَالُكَ» فَانْصَرِفْ لَا إِمْرَةَ لِمُعَاوِيَةَ عَلَيْكَ

'Umar said to him: "What has brought you to me? May Allah not open a land in which you and your like are not present. So go back; Mu'awiya has no authority over you."
