✧ The crisis of Abu Dharr

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو ذَرٍّ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ كَامِلِ بْنِ خَلَفٍ الْقَاضِي ثَنَا أَبُو قِلَابَةَ بْنُ الرَّقَاشِيُّ ثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ ثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ وَهُوَ صَالِحُ بْنُ رُسْتُمٍ الْخَزَّازُ عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ هِلَالٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ قَالَ قَالَتْ

أُمُّ ذَرٍّ وَاللَّهِ مَا سَيَّرَ عُثْمَانُ أَبَا ذَرٍّ وَلَكِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا بَلَغَ الْبُنْيَانُ سَلْعًا فَاخْرُجْ مِنْهَا» قَالَ أَبُو ذَرٍّ فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ الْبُنْيَانُ سِلَعًا وَجَاوَزَ خَرَجَ أَبُو ذَرٍّ إِلَى الشَّامِ وَذَكَرَ بَاقِيَ الْحَدِيثِ بِطُولِهِ

Translation

✧ Umm Dharr, by Allah, 'Uthman did not send Abu Dharr away, but the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'When construction reaches Sal', leave it.' Abu Dharr said, 'When construction reached Sal' and passed beyond it, Abu Dharr left for Syria.' And he mentioned the rest of the hadith in full.
