✧ I arrived in Syria and prayed two rakʿahs, then I said: “O Allah, make easy for me a righteous companion.” I met a group of people and sat, and then one of them came and sat beside me. I said: “Who is this?” He said: “Abū al-Dardāʾ.” I said: “I supplicated Allah to make easy for me a righteous companion, and He made it easy for me.” He said: “From whom are you?” I said: “From the people of Kufa.” He said: “Is not among you Ibn Umm ʿAbd, the owner of the sandals, the cushion, and the purification vessel? And among you is the one whom Allah protected from Satan by the tongue of His Prophet ﷺ. And among you is the keeper of the secret of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, which no one else knows.”

Notes

machine translationThis is an authentic (ṣaḥīḥ) ḥadīth meeting the criteria of the two Shaykhs, though they did not record it. «» The chains of transmission before it are all authentic as well, and they did not record them either. I only left off commenting on them because they are not connected musnad reports, whereas this one is a musnad report meeting the criteria of al-Bukhārī and Muslim.
