أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ حَمْدَانَ الْجَلَّابُ بِهَمْدَانَ ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ بُرْدٍ ثَنَا الْهَيْثَمُ بْنُ جَمِيلٍ ثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبِي يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ
سَمِعْتُ عَلِيًّا يَقُولُ لِعَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ يَوْمَ مَاتَ اذْهَبْ «يَا ابْنَ عَوْفٍ فَقَدْ أَدْرَكْتَ صَفْوَهَا وَسَبَقْتَ رَنْقَهَا»
