حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثَنَا السَّرِيُّ بْنُ يَحْيَى التَّمِيمِيُّ ثَنَا قَبِيصَةُ بْنُ عُقْبَةَ ثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ أَسْلَمَ الْمِنْقَرِيِّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبْزَى يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

لَمَّا وَقَعَ النَّاسُ فِي أَمْرِ عُثْمَانَ قُلْتُ لِأُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ أَبَا الْمُنْذِرِ مَا الْمَخْرَجُ مِنْ هَذَا الْأَمْرِ؟ قَالَ «كِتَابُ اللَّهِ وَسُنَّةُ نَبِيِّهِ مَا اسْتَبَانَ لَكُمْ فَاعْمَلُوا بِهِ وَمَا أَشْكَلَ عَلَيْكُمْ فَكُلُوهُ إِلَى عَالِمِهِ»

✧ When the people fell into the affair of Uthman, I said to Ubay b. Ka'b: Abu al-Mundhir, what is the way out of this affair? He said: "The Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Prophet. What is clear to you, act upon it, and what is unclear to you, entrust it to its knower."
