حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ بَالَوَيْهِ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْخَزَّازُ ثنا فَيْضُ بْنُ وَثِيقٍ ثنا أَبُو عُمَارَةَ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ شِهَابٍ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لِجَابِرٍ «يَا جَابِرُ أَلَا أُبَشِّرُكَ؟» قَالَ بَلَى بَشِّرْنِي بَشَّرَكَ اللَّهُ بِالْخَيْرِ قَالَ أَشَعَرْتَ أَنَّ اللَّهَ ﷻ أَحْيَا أَبَاكَ فَأَقْعَدَهُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ فَقَالَ تَمَنَّ عَلَيَّ عَبْدِي مَا شِئْتَ أُعْطِيكَهُ فَقَالَ يَا رَبِّ مَا عَبَدْتُكَ حَقَّ عِبَادَتِكَ أَتَمَنَّى أَنْ تَرُدَّنِي إِلَى الدُّنْيَا فَأُقْتَلَ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ مَرَّةً أُخْرَى فَقَالَ سَبَقَ مِنِّي إِنَّكَ إِلَيْهَا لَا تَرْجِعُ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Jabir: 'O Jabir, shall I give you glad tidings?' He said: 'Yes, give me glad tidings, may Allah give you glad tidings of good.' He said: 'Do you realize that Allah, Exalted is He, brought your father back to life and seated him before Him, then said: Wish upon Me, My servant, whatever you wish and I will grant it to you.' He said: 'O Lord, I have not worshipped You as You deserve to be worshipped. I wish that You return me to the world so that I may be killed fighting alongside the Prophet ﷺ once again.' He said: 'It has already been decreed by Me that to it you shall not return.'
