✧ When the matter between Hasan ibn Ali and Mu'awiya occurred, I came to him in Medina while he was sitting with his companions. He mentioned the hadith at length. We then discussed the adhan (call to prayer) in his presence. Some of us said that the adhan began as a vision experienced by Abdullah ibn Zayd ibn Asim. Hasan ibn Ali replied, "The matter of the adhan is greater than that. Gabriel, ﷺ, called the adhan in the heavens two by two and taught it to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and in one instance he called the iqama (second call to prayer) one by one and taught it to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and Hasan called the adhan when he was appointed."
