أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ بَالَوَيْهِ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ يُونُسَ ثنا زُهَيْرٌ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ عَنْ أَبِي جُحَيْفَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ
«إِنْ كَانَ عُمَرُ حِصْنًا حَصِينًا يَدْخُلُ الْإِسْلَامُ فِيهِ وَلَا يَخْرُجُ مِنْهُ فَلَمَّا أُصِيبَ عُمَرُ انْثَلمَ الْحِصْنُ فَالْإِسْلَامُ يَخْرُجُ مِنْهُ وَلَا يَدْخُلُ فِيهِ إِذَا ذُكِرَ الصَّالِحُونَ فَحَيَّهَلَا بِعُمَرَ»

✧ Umar was a fortified fortress into which Islam entered and from which it did not leave. But when Umar was struck, the fortress was breached, and now Islam leaves from it and does not enter it. When the righteous are mentioned, then come quickly with Umar.
