machine translationIt was said to me that it seems to be from the hadith of Sulaymān b. ʿAmr al-Nakhaʿī, because Sulaymān b. ʿAmr is the son of ʿAbdullāh b. Wahb al-Nakhaʿī; so he left out Sulaymān and made it ʿAbd al-Malik, because all the people are servants of Allah (ʿubayd Allāh), and he was ascribed to his grandfather Wahb. Madhḥij is a tribe from Nakhaʿ. He said: It is possible that it is so, because al-Ḥurr b. al-Ṣayyāḥ is trustworthy (thiqah); Shuʿbah, al-Thawrī, al-Ḥasan b. ʿUbaydullāh al-Nakhaʿī and Sharīk narrated from him. Had this hadith been from al-Ḥurr, it would have been the first thing asked about; so where were these memorizers (ḥuffāẓ) concerning it from him?
