حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَوْنٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ ثنا خَالِدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ أَبِي هِنْدٍ عَنِ الْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ كِنْدِيرِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ حَجَجْتُ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَإِذَا أَنَا بِرَجُلٍ يَطُوفُ بِالْبَيْتِ وَهُوَ يَرْتَجِزُ وَيَقُولُ [البحر الرجز] رَبِّ رُدَّ إِلَيَّ رَاكِبِي مُحَمَّدًا رُدَّهُ إِلَيَّ وَاصْطَنِعْ عِنْدِي يَدَا فَقُلْتُ مَنْ هَذَا؟ فَقَالُوا عَبْدُ الْمُطَّلِبِ بْنُ هَاشِمٍ بَعَثَ بِابْنِ ابْنِهِ مُحَمَّدٍ فِي طَلَبِ إِبِلٍ لَهُ وَلَمْ يَبْعَثْهُ فِي حَاجَةٍ إِلَّا أَنْجَحَ فِيهَا وَقَدْ أَبْطَأَ عَلَيْهِ فَلَمْ يَلْبَثْ أَنْ جَاءَ مُحَمَّدٌ وَالْإِبِلُ فَاعْتَنَقَهُ

وَقَالَ يَا بُنَيَّ لَقَدْ جَزِعْتُ عَلَيْكَ جَزَعًا لَمْ أَجْزَعْهُ عَلَى شَيْءٍ قَطُّ وَاللَّهِ لَا أَبْعَثُكَ فِي حَاجَةٍ أَبَدًا وَلَا تُفَارِقُنِي بَعْدَ هَذَا أَبَدًا

✧ He said: "O my little son, I have grieved over you as I have never grieved over anything. By Allah, I shall never send you on an errand again, and you will never part from me after this."
