✧ Interpretation of Surah Ash-Shams and its Brightness

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْقَاضِي ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ ثنا آدَمُ بْنُ أَبِي إِيَاسٍ ثنا وَرْقَاءُ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

فِي قَوْلِهِ ﷻ {وَالشَّمْسِ وَضُحَاهَا} [الشمس 1] قَالَ «ضَوْءُهَا» {وَالْقَمَرِ إِذَا تَلَاهَا} [الشمس 2] «تَبِعَهَا» {وَالنَّهَارِ إِذَا جَلَّاهَا} [الشمس 3] قَالَ «أَضَاءَهَا» {وَالسَّمَاءِ وَمَا بَنَاهَا} [الشمس 5] قَالَ «اللَّهُ بَنَى السَّمَاءَ» {وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا طَحَاهَا} [الشمس 6] قَالَ «دَحَاهَا» قَالَ {وَنَفْسٍ وَمَا سَوَّاهَا فَأَلْهَمَهَا فُجُورَهَا وَتَقْوَاهَا} [الشمس 8] قَالَ «عَرَفَ شَقَاءَهَا وَسَعَادَتَهَا» {قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَنْ زَكَّاهَا وَقَدْ خَابَ مَنْ دَسَّاهَا} [الشمس 9] قَالَ «أَغْوَاهَا»

✧ Regarding His ﷻ saying {And by the sun and its brightness} [Ash-Shams:1], he said: "Its light." {And by the moon when it follows it} [Ash-Shams:2]: "It follows it." {And by the day when it displays it} [Ash-Shams:3], he said: "It illuminates it." {And by the sky and He who built it} [Ash-Shams:5], he said: "Allah built the sky." {And by the earth and He who spread it} [Ash-Shams:6], he said: "He spread it out." He said: {And by the soul and He who proportioned it, and inspired it with its wickedness and its righteousness} [Ash-Shams:8]: "He made it know its wretchedness and its happiness." {He has succeeded who purifies it, and he has failed who buries it} [Ash-Shams:9], he said: "He led it astray."
