✧ From Muhammad b. 'Ubayd Allah b. Abi Rafi', the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, from 'Ikrima, from Ibn 'Abbas, who said: 'Abd Yazid, the father of Rukana, divorced the mother of Rukana, then married a woman from Muzayna. She came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, he is of no more use to me than this hair is to another hair' - she had taken a hair from her head. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ became zealous at that, so he called Rukana and his brothers, then said to those sitting with him: 'Do you see such-and-such from such-and-such?' Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to 'Abd Yazid: 'Divorce her.' He did so. Then he said to Abu Rukana: 'Take her back.' He said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I divorced her three times.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'I knew that, so take her back.' Then it was revealed: {O Prophet, when you divorce women, divorce them for their waiting period} [al-Talaq 1].
