✧ When the messengers of Allah came to Lut, he thought they were guests who had come to him, so he brought them close and seated them nearby. He brought his daughters, who were three, and seated them between his guests and his people. Then his people came rushing to him. When he saw them, he said, {These are my daughters; they are purer for you, so fear Allah and do not disgrace me concerning my guests} [Hud 78]. They said, {We have no right to your daughters, and indeed you know what we want} [Hud 79]. {He said, If only I had strength against you or could take refuge in a strong support} [Hud 80]. Jibril ﷺ turned to him and said, {Indeed we are messengers of your Lord; they will never reach you} [Hud 81]. He said, "So he blinded their eyes, and they retreated, climbing over one another, until they reached those at the door. They said, 'We have come to you from the most magical of people; he has blinded our sight.' So they went off, climbing over one another, until they entered the town. It was raised during part of the night until it was between the sky and the earth, so that they could hear the voices of birds in the air. Then it was turned upside down, and the baked clay stones came out upon them. Whoever the baked clay stone caught, it killed him, and whoever escaped, a stone followed him wherever he was and killed him." He said, "Then he departed with his daughters, who were three. When he reached such-and-such a place in Syria, his eldest daughter died, and a spring called al-Wariyyah gushed forth at her grave. Then he went on as far as Allah willed him to go, and the youngest died, and a spring called al-Ru'unah gushed forth at her grave. None of them remained except the middle one."
