✧ When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ halted at al-Hijr during the expedition of Tabuk, he stood and addressed the people, saying: "O people, do not ask your Prophet about signs. These are the people of Salih; they asked their Prophet to bring them a sign, so Allah sent them the she-camel. It used to come from this mountain pass and drink their water on its day of drinking, and they would drink its milk just as they used to drink from their water. But they rebelled against the command of their Lord and hamstrung it. So Allah promised them three days—a promise from Allah that was not to be belied. Then the cry came upon them, and Allah destroyed all those among them who were under the eastern and western parts of the heavens, except a man who was in the sanctuary of Allah. The sanctuary of Allah protected him from the punishment of Allah." They said, "O Messenger of Allah, who is he?" He said, "Abu Righal."
