✧ Ibn 'Abbas said: 'Ubayy recited to the Prophet ﷺ. Al-Shafi'i said: I recited to Isma'il b. Qustantin, and he used to say: 'The Quran is a noun and is not hamzated, and it is not derived from "I recited." If it were derived from "I recited," everything recited would be Quran. Rather, it is a name for the Quran like the Torah and the Gospel. "I recited" is hamzated, but the Quran is not hamzated.'
