al-Mustadrak (al-Hakim) 272

Translation

✧ The Lote Tree was raised up for me, and behold there were four rivers: two apparent and two hidden. As for the two apparent, they are the Nile and the Euphrates; and as for the two hidden, they are two rivers in Paradise. And I was brought three cups: a cup with milk, a cup with honey, and a cup with wine. I took the one with milk and drank, and it was said to me, “You have hit the fitrah, you and your nation.”

• قَالَ الْحَاكِمُ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قُلْتُ لِشَيْخِنَا أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ لِمَ لَمْ يُخَرِّجَا هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ؟ قَالَ لِأَنَّ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ لَمْ يَسْمَعْهُ مِنَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ إِنَّمَا سَمِعَهُ مِنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ صَعْصَعَةَ قَالَ الْحَاكِمُ «ثُمَّ نَظَرْتُ فَإِذَا الْأَحْرُفُ الَّتِي سَمِعَهَا مِنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ صَعْصَعَةَ غَيْرُ هَذِهِ وَلِيَعْلَمْ طَالِبُ هَذَا الْعِلْمِ أَنَّ حَدِيثَ الْمِعْرَاجِ قَدْ سَمِعَ أَنَسٌ بَعْضَهُ مِنَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَبَعْضَهُ مِنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ الْغِفَارِيِّ وَبَعْضَهُ مِنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ صَعْصَعَةَ غَيْرُ هَذِهِ وَبَعْضَهُ مِنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ»
