✧ A Jew said to his companion, 'Let us go to this prophet ﷺ and ask him about this verse: {And We certainly gave Moses nine clear signs} [Al-Isra 17:101].' He said, 'Do not call him a prophet, for if he hears you, he will become four-eyed.' He said, 'So they asked him, and he said: "Do not associate anything with Allah, do not steal, do not commit adultery, do not kill the soul which Allah has forbidden except by right, do not practice sorcery, do not consume usury, do not bring an innocent person to a ruler to have him killed, and do not falsely accuse a chaste woman—and you, O Jews, are specifically obligated not to transgress on the Sabbath."' Then they kissed his hand and his foot and said, 'We bear witness that you are a prophet.' He said, 'What prevents you two from embracing Islam?' They said, 'David ﷺ prayed that a prophet would never cease from his descendants, and we fear that the Jews will kill us.'
