✧ A Bedouin came to the Prophet ﷺ wearing a cloak of Tayalisa fabric trimmed with silk brocade and said: “This companion of yours wants to raise every shepherd and the son of a shepherd, and to lower every horseman and the son of a horseman.” The Prophet ﷺ stood up, then sat down, and said: “When death approached Noah, he called his two sons and said: ‘I am relating to you the testament: I command you with two things and forbid you from two things. I forbid you from associating partners with Allah and from arrogance, and I command you with “There is no god but Allah.” For if the heavens and the earth and all that is within them were placed on one scale of the balance and “There is no god but Allah” were placed on the other scale, it would outweigh them. And if the heavens and the earth and all that is within them were a ring, and “There is no god but Allah” were placed upon it, it would shatter them. And I command you with “Glory be to Allah and with His praise,” for it is the prayer of everything, and by it everything is provided sustenance.’”
