أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عُقْبَةَ الشَّيْبَانِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ثنا وَكِيعٌ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ وَأَخْبَرَنِي الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ثنا بُنْدَارٌ ثنا مُحَمَّدٌ ثنا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ أَبِي يُونُسَ وَهُوَ حَاتِمُ بْنُ أَبِي صَغِيرَةَ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ رَجُلًا كَانَ بِمَكَّةَ وَكَانَ رُومِيًّا وَفِي حَدِيثِ شُعْبَةَ اسْمُهُ وَقَّاصٌ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ قَالَ كَانَ رَجُلٌ يَطُوفُ بِالْبَيْتِ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ فِي دُعَائِهِ أَوَّهْ أَوَّهْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِنَّهُ لَأَوَّاهٌ» قَالَ أَبُو ذَرٍّ فَخَرَجْتُ ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ فَإِذَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فِي الْمَقَابِرِ يَدْفِنُ ذَلِكَ الرَّجُلَ وَمَعَهُ الْمِصْبَاحُ

✧ I heard a man who was in Makkah, and he was a Byzantine—and in Shu'bah's hadith his name is Waqqas—narrating from Abu Dharr, who said: There was a man circumambulating the House, and he was saying in his supplication, 'Awwah, awwah.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Indeed he is awwah.' Abu Dharr said: Then I went out one night, and behold, the Prophet ﷺ was in the graveyard burying that man, and with him was a lamp.
