أَخْبَرَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عَوْنٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ

أَنَّ ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ كَانَ يَمْشِي وَنَاسٌ يَطَئُونَ عَقِبَهُ فَقَالَ «لَا تَطَئُوا عَقِبِي فَوَاللَّهِ لَوْ تَعْلَمُونَ مَا أُغْلِقُ عَلَيْهِ بَابِي مَا تَبِعَنِي رَجُلٌ مِنْكُمْ»

Translation

✧ Ibn Mas'ud was walking while people were treading on his heel. He said: "Do not tread on my heel. By Allah, if you knew what I shut my door upon, no man among you would follow me."
