✧ Who doesn't want to bore people?

أَخْبَرَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو هِلَالٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الْحَسَنَ يَقُولُ

كَانَ يُقَالُ «حَدِّثِ الْقَوْمَ مَا أَقْبَلُوا عَلَيْكَ بِوُجُوهِهِمْ فَإِذَا الْتَفَتُوا فَاعْلَمْ أَنَّ لَهُمْ حَاجَاتٍ»

Translation

Chain of narrators
  1. Sulaymān b. Ḥarb
  2. Abū Hilāl
  3. al-Ḥasan

✧ It used to be said: "Narrate to a people as long as they are attentive to you with their faces; when they turn away, know that they have needs."
