✧ That 'Umar b. al-Khattab ؓ came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with a copy of the Torah and said, "O Messenger of Allah, this is a copy of the Torah." He remained silent, and he began to read while the face of the Messenger of Allah changed. Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) said, "May the bereaved women lose you! Do you not see the face of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?" So 'Umar looked at the face of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "I seek refuge in Allah from the anger of Allah and the anger of His Messenger. We are pleased with Allah as Lord, with Islam as religion, and with Muhammad as Prophet." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said, "By the One in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, if Musa appeared to you and you followed him and abandoned me, you would have gone astray from the right path. And if he were alive and reached my prophethood, he would have followed me."
