Virtue of Knowledge and the Scholar

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ وَجَعْفَرُ بْنُ عَوْنٍ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا مِسْعَرٌ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو الدَّرْدَاءِ

«تَعَلَّمُوا قَبْلَ أَنْ يُقْبَضَ الْعِلْمُ فَإِنَّ قَبْضَ الْعِلْمِ قَبْضُ الْعُلَمَاءِ وَإِنَّ الْعَالِمَ وَالْمُتَعَلِّمَ فِي الْأَجْرِ سَوَاءٌ»

Translation

  4. Sālim b. Abū al-Jaʿd
  5. Abū al-Dardāʾ

✧ Abu Darda said, "Learn before knowledge is taken away, because the taking away of knowledge is the taking away of scholars. And the scholar and the learner are equal in reward."
