أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو النُّعْمَانِ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنْ مُغِيرَةَ عَنْ الْحَارِثِ الْعُكْلِيِّ

فِي رَجُلٍ أَقَرَّ عِنْدَ مَوْتِهِ بِأَلْفِ دِرْهَمٍ مُضَارَبَةً وَأَلْفٍ دَيْنًا وَلَمْ يَدَعْ إِلَّا أَلْفَ دِرْهَمٍ قَالَ «يُبْدَأُ بِالدَّيْنِ فَإِنْ فَضَلَ فَضْلٌ كَانَ لِصَاحِبِ الْمُضَارَبَةِ»

Translation

✧ About a man who, at his death, acknowledged one thousand dirhams as a partnership investment and one thousand as a debt, and left only one thousand dirhams. He said, 'The debt is paid first, and if anything remains, it belongs to the partner in the investment.'
