أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ يُونُسَ قَالَ كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ مَيْمُونُ بْنُ مِهْرَانَ
إِيَّاكَ وَالْخُصُومَةَ وَالْجِدَالَ فِي الدِّينِ وَلَا تُجَادِلَنَّ عَالِمًا وَلَا جَاهِلًا أَمَّا الْعَالِمُ فَإِنَّهُ يَخْزُنُ عَنْكَ عِلْمَهُ وَلَا يُبَالِي مَا صَنَعْتَ وَأَمَّا الْجَاهِلُ فَإِنَّهُ يُخَشِّنُ بِصَدْرِكَ وَلَا يُطِيعُكَ

✧ Beware of disputation and argumentation in religion. Do not argue with a scholar or an ignorant person. As for the scholar, he will withhold his knowledge from you and not care what you do. As for the ignorant person, he will harden your heart and not obey you.
