✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Wābiṣah, “Have you come to ask about righteousness and sin?” He said, “I said, ‘Yes.’” He said, “Then he gathered his fingers and struck his chest with them, and said, ‘Consult your heart, consult yourself, O Wābiṣah’ — three times — ‘Righteousness is what the soul is at ease with and the heart is at ease with. Sin is what chafes in the soul and wavers in the chest, even if people give you a ruling and they give you a ruling again.’”
