Sunan ad-Darimi 1802

✧ In the fasting of the day of Ashura

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي عُبَيْدٍ عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْأَكْوَعِ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ بَعَثَ يَوْمَ عَاشُورَاءَ رَجُلًا مِنْ أَسْلَمَ «إِنَّ الْيَوْمَ يَوْمُ عَاشُورَاءَ فَمَنْ كَانَ أَكَلَ أَوْ شَرِبَ فَلْيُتِمَّ بَقِيَّةَ يَوْمِهِ وَمَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ أَكَلَ أَوْ شَرِبَ فَلْيَصُمْهُ»

Translation

  3. Salamah b. al-Akwaʿ

✧ The Prophet ﷺ sent a man from Aslam on the day of Ashura, saying, "Today is the day of Ashura. Whoever has eaten or drunk, let him complete the rest of his day [in abstinence], and whoever has not eaten or drunk, let him fast it."
