قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ لَقَدْ جَعَلْتُ تَحْتَ وِسَادَتِي خَيْطًا أَبْيَضَ وَخَيْطًا أَسْوَدَ فَمَا تَبَيَّنَ لِي شَيْءٌ قَالَ «إِنَّكَ لَعَرِيضُ الْوِسَادِ وَإِنَّمَا ذَلِكَ اللَّيْلُ مِنَ النَّهَارِ فِي قَوْلِهِ تَعَالَى» {وَكُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا حَتَّى يَتَبَيَّنَ لَكُمُ الْخَيْطُ الْأَبْيَضُ مِنَ الْخَيْطِ الْأَسْوَدِ مِنَ الْفَجْرِ ثُمَّ أَتِّمُّوا الصِّيَامَ إِلَى اللَّيْلِ وَلَا تُبَاشِرُوهُنَّ وَأَنْتُمْ عَاكِفُونَ فِي الْمَسَاجِدِ تِلْكَ حُدُودُ اللَّهِ فَلَا تَقْرَبُوهَا كَذَالِكَ يُبَيِّنُ اللَّهُ آيَاتِهِ لِلنَّاسِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتُّقُونَ}

✧ I said: O Messenger of Allah, I placed under my pillow a white thread and a black thread, but nothing became clear to me. He said: "Indeed your pillow is wide. That is only the night from the day, in the saying of Allah the Exalted: 'And eat and drink until the white thread becomes distinct to you from the black thread of dawn. Then complete the fast until night. And do not have relations with them as long as you are staying for worship in the mosques. These are the limits of Allah, so do not approach them. Thus does Allah make clear His verses to the people that they may become righteous.'"
