حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ نا إِبْرَاهِيمُ الْحَرْبِيُّ نا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ هِلَالٍ قَالَ

خَرَجَ أَبُو مُوسَى فِي وَفْدٍ فِيهِمْ رَجُلٌ مِنْ عَبْدِ الْقَيْسِ أَعْوَرُ فَصَلَّى أَبُو مُوسَى فَرَكَعُوا فَنَكَصُوا عَلَى أَعْقَابِهِمْ فَتَرَدَّى الْأَعْوَرُ فِي بِئْرٍ قَالَ الْأَحْنَفُ فَلَمَّا سَمِعْتُهُ يَتَرَدَّى فِيهَا فَمَا مِنَ الْقَوْمِ إِلَّا ضَحِكَ غَيْرِي وَغَيْرَ أَبِي مُوسَى فَلَمَّا قَضَى الصَّلَاةَ قَالَ مَا بَالُ هَؤُلَاءِ قَالُوا فُلَانٌ تَرَدَّى فِي بِئْرٍ فَأَمَرَهُمْ فَأَعَادُوا الصَّلَاةَ

Translation

✧ Abu Musa went out in a delegation that included a one-eyed man from Abd al-Qays. Abu Musa prayed, and they bowed, then they retreated on their heels, and the one-eyed man fell into a well. Al-Ahnaf said: When I heard him falling into it, none of the people laughed except me and Abu Musa. When he finished the prayer, he said: What is the matter with these? They said: So-and-so fell into a well. He ordered them, and they repeated the prayer.
