حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ نا عَبَّاسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ نا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي الْأَسْوَدِ نا دَاوُدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ حَدَّثَنِي وُهَيْبٌ نا ابْنُ عَوْنٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ

قَالَ كَانَ أَرْبَعَةٌ يُصَدِّقُونَ مَنْ حَدَّثَهُمْ وَلَا يُبَالُونَ مِمَّنْ يَسْمَعُونَ الْحَدِيثَ الْحَسَنُ وَأَبُو الْعَالِيَةِ وَحُمَيْدُ بْنُ هِلَالٍ وَدَاوُدُ بْنُ أَبِي هِنْدَ قَالَ الشَّيْخُ وَلَمْ يَذْكُرِ الرَّابِعَ وَهَذَا حَدِيثٌ رُوِيَ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ عَنْ جَابِرٍ فَذَكَرَهُ وَذَكَرَ عِلَّتَهُ

✧ He said: There were four who would believe whoever narrated to them, and they did not care from whom they heard hadith: al-Hasan, Abu al-'Aliyah, Humayd b. Hilal, and Dawud b. Abi Hind. The Shaykh said: He did not mention the fourth, and this is a hadith narrated from al-A'mash, from Abu Sufyan, from Jabir, so he mentioned it and mentioned its defect.
