machine translationAbū Zurʿah was asked about the hadith of Ibn ʿĀʾidh from ʿAlī with this hadith, and he said: Ibn ʿĀʾidh's narration from ʿAlī is mursal.

machine translationA rejected (munkar) hadith. I saw that Abū Dāwūd included this hadith in the Kitāb al-Sunan, and I think he placed it there only because it is sound (ṣaḥīḥ) in his view.

machine translationIt was declared defective (muʿall) on two grounds. The first is that there is criticism of Baqiyyah and al-Waḍīn, as stated by al-Mundhirī. Ibn Daqīq al-ʿĪd disputed him regarding them both, saying: Baqiyyah has been declared trustworthy by some of them, and Abū Zurʿah asked ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Ibrāhīm about al-Waḍīn b. ʿAṭāʾ, and he said: trustworthy (thiqah). Ibn ʿAdī said: I see no harm in his hadiths. The second is the break in the chain (inqiṭāʿ). Ibn Abī Ḥātim mentioned from Abū Zurʿah, in the Kitāb al-ʿIlal and the Kitāb al-Marāsīl, that Ibn ʿĀʾidh's narration from ʿAlī is mursal. In the ʿIlal he added that he asked his father and Abū Zurʿah about this hadith, and they said: it is not strong.
in سنن الدارقطني, p. 601 - Ibn Ḥajar al-ʿAsqalānī
machine translationAl-Waḍīn b. ʿAṭāʾ: al-Jūzajānī said: very weak (wāhin), and this hadith was held against him as rejected.
