نا أَبُو مُحَمَّدِ بْنُ صَاعِدٍ نا أَبُو حُصَيْنٍ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ يُونُسَ نا عَبْثَرٌ نا حُصَيْنٌ عَنْ عَامِرٍ قَالَ
أُتِيَ عَلِيُّ بِسَارِقٍ قَدْ سَرَقَ فَقَطَعَ يَدَهُ ثُمَّ أُتِيَ بِهِ قَدْ سَرَقَ فَقَطَعَ رِجْلَهُ ثُمَّ أُتِيَ بِهِ الثَّالِثَةَ قَدْ سَرَقَ فَأَمَرَ بِهِ إِلَى السِّجْنِ وَقَالَ دَعُوا لَهُ رِجْلًا يَمْشِي عَلَيْهَا وَيَدًا يَأْكُلُ بِهَا وَيَسْتَنْجِي بِهَا

✧ A thief who had stolen was brought to ‘Alī, and he cut off his hand. Then he was brought again having stolen, and he cut off his foot. Then he was brought a third time having stolen, and he ordered him to prison and said: Leave for him a foot to walk on and a hand to eat and clean himself with.
