That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had a Muslim killed in retaliation for a man under a covenant (muʿāhad), and said: "I am the most deserving of those who fulfil their pledge of protection." No one transmitted it with a connected chain except Ibrāhīm b. Abī Yaḥyā, and he is abandoned in hadith (matrūk al-ḥadīth). The correct version is from Rabīʿah, from Ibn al-Baylamānī, as a mursal report from the Prophet ﷺ. Ibn al-Baylamānī is weak (ḍaʿīf); no proof can be established by him when he connects a hadith, so how about what he transmits as mursal? And Allah knows best.

  • Dāraquṭnī

machine translationNo one transmitted it with a connected chain except Ibrāhīm b. Abī Yaḥyā, and he is abandoned (matrūk). The correct view is that it is mursal. Ibn al-Baylamānī is weak (ḍaʿīf); no proof can be established by him when he connects a hadith, so how much less when he transmits it as mursal. Mālik, Yaḥyā b. Saʿīd and Ibn Maʿīn said: Ibrāhīm b. Abī Yaḥyā is a liar (kadhdhāb). Aḥmad and al-Bukhārī said: the people abandoned his hadith. Ibn al-Baylamānī's name is ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, and they have graded him weak.
