✧ Renewing Water for Wiping

نا ابْنُ صَاعِدٍ نا عَبْدُ الْجَبَّارِ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ ثنا مَرْوَانُ نا إِسْمَاعِيلُ عَنْ زِيَادٍ قَالَ

جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ فَسَأَلَهُ عَنِ الْوُضُوءِ فَقَالَ أَبْدَأُ بِالْيَمِينِ أَوْ بِالشِّمَالِ فَأَضْرَطَ عَلِيٌّ بِهِ ثُمَّ دَعَا بِمَاءٍ فَبَدَأَ بِالشِّمَالِ قَبْلَ الْيَمِينِ

Translation

✧ A man came to 'Ali b. Abi Talib and asked him about wudu', saying, 'Should I begin with the right or the left?' 'Ali broke wind at him, then called for water and began with the left before the right.
