  • al-Bukhari

machine translationI do not know of any hearing (samāʿ) by al-Muṭṭalib from any of the Companions, except his saying: "Someone who witnessed the sermon of the Messenger of God ﷺ narrated to me."

  • Ibn Ḥajar al-ʿAsqalānī

machine translationʿAmr is disputed, even though he is among the narrators of the two Ṣaḥīḥs, and so is his freed slave. Al-Tirmidhī said: No hearing from Jābir is known for him. In another place he said: Muḥammad said: I do not know of him having heard from any of the Companions, except for his saying, "Someone who attended the sermon of the Messenger of God ﷺ narrated to me." And I heard ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān say: We do not know of him having heard from any of the Companions.
