I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at Minā while he was on his she-camel. A man came to him and said, "O Messenger of Allah, I thought that shaving came before the sacrifice, so I shaved before I sacrificed." He said, "Sacrifice, and there is no harm." He said: Another came to him and said, "O Messenger of Allah, I thought that shaving came before the stoning, so I shaved before I stoned." He said, "Stone, and there is no harm." He said: On that day he was not asked about anything that a man had put first or put later except that he said, "Do it, and there is no harm."

Notes

machine translationThus ʿAbd al-Razzāq said, from Maʿmar: "I shaved before I stoned." Muḥammad b. Abī Ḥafṣah followed him in his narration, saying: "I proceeded (to Mecca) before I stoned," but he was not followed in it, and I think he made an error in it, and Allah knows best. 283
