- Aḥmad ibn Shuʿayb al-Nasāʾī
machine translationIn my view this ḥadīth is mistaken. And he said in al-Kubrā: Its chain is good, except that a group of the students of Ibn ʿUmar contradicted al-Azdī and did not mention "the day."
in سنن الدارقطني, p. 1546 - Ibn Khuzaymah
صححه
machine translationHe declared it sound (ṣaḥḥaḥahu).
in سنن الدارقطني, p. 1546 - Aḥmad ibn Shuʿayb al-Nasāʾī
machine translationThe addition "and the day": al-Nasāʾī judged that its narrator erred in it.
in سنن الدارقطني, p. 1546 - Yaḥyá b. Maʿīn

- Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr
in سنن الدارقطني, p. 1546 - Yaḥyá b. Maʿīn
in سنن الدارقطني, p. 1546 - Ibn Ḥajar al-ʿAsqalānī
machine translationIbn Khuzaymah, Ibn Ḥibbān and al-Ḥākim declared it sound (ṣaḥīḥ).
in سنن الدارقطني, p. 1546 - Dāraquṭnī
machine translationHe said in al-ʿIlal: The mention of the day in it is an error.
in سنن الدارقطني, p. 1546 - Khaṭṭābī
machine translationṬāwūs, Nāfiʿ and others narrated this ḥadīth from Ibn ʿUmar, and none of them mentioned the day in it; it is only "the prayer of the night is two by two." However, the way with an addition from a trustworthy narrator is that it is accepted.
in سنن الدارقطني, p. 1546 - Abū Bakr Aḥmad b. al-Ḥusayn al-Bayhaqī
machine translationThis is a sound (ṣaḥīḥ) ḥadīth. Muslim used ʿAlī al-Bāriqī as evidence, and an addition from a trustworthy (thiqah) narrator is accepted.
in سنن الدارقطني, p. 1546 - al-Bukhari
صححه
machine translationHe declared it sound (ṣaḥḥaḥahu).
in سنن الدارقطني, p. 1546 - Yaḥyá b. Maʿīn
machine translationAnd who is ʿAlī al-Azdī that I should accept this from him? Had the ḥadīth of ʿAlī al-Azdī been sound, Ibn ʿUmar would not have contradicted it.
machine translationShuʿbah used to avoid this ḥadīth, and at times he did not raise it to the Prophet.
in سنن الدارقطني, p. 1546 - Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr
machine translationThere is nothing objectionable (munkar) in the ḥadīth of ʿAlī al-Azdī, and it has no refutation in any of the foundational principles.
in سنن الدارقطني, p. 1546 - Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr
machine translationNo one besides ʿAlī said it from Ibn ʿUmar, and they rejected it from him. Yaḥyā b. Maʿīn used to weaken this ḥadīth of his and not use it as evidence, saying that Nāfiʿ, ʿAbdullāh b. Dīnār and a group narrated it from Ibn ʿUmar without mentioning the day.
in سنن الدارقطني, p. 1546 - al-Tirmidhi
machine translationThe students of Shuʿbah differed about it: some made it mawqūf and some raised it (marfūʿ). The correct version is what the trustworthy narrators reported from Ibn ʿUmar, who did not mention the prayer of the day in it.
in سنن الدارقطني, p. 1546 - Aḥmad ibn Shuʿayb al-Nasāʾī
machine translationHe judged that the narrator of the addition of the day erred in it.
in سنن الدارقطني, p. 1546 - Yaḥyá b. Maʿīn
in سنن الدارقطني, p. 1546 - Mubarakpūri
machine translationAl-Ḥāfiẓ said: Ibn Wahb narrated with a strong chain from Ibn ʿUmar, who said: "The prayer of the night and the day is two by two," as a statement of the Companion (mawqūf). Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr transmitted it by his route. Perhaps al-Azdī confused the mawqūf with the raised (marfūʿ), so this addition would not be sound according to the method of those who require that a sound ḥadīth not be anomalous (shādhdh).
in سنن الدارقطني, p. 1546 - Yaḥyá b. Maʿīn
machine translationHe weakens it and does not use it as evidence, and he follows the position of the Kufans on this issue. He says that Nāfiʿ, ʿAbdullāh b. Dīnār and a group narrated this ḥadīth from Ibn ʿUmar without mentioning "and the day."
in سنن الدارقطني, p. 1546
