I came to Ibn ʿUmar one day while he was sitting at al-Balāṭ, and the people were in the ʿAṣr prayer. I said, "Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, the people are praying." He said, "I have already prayed. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: 'An obligatory prayer is not to be prayed twice in one day.'"

machine translationIn its chain is ʿAmr b. Shuʿayb, and the discussion of him has already preceded.

    in سنن الدارقطني, p. 1544
  • ابن الملقن

قال الدارقطني تفرد به حسين بن ذكوان المعلم قلت لا يضره لأنه ثقة مشهور احتج به الشيخان فجاز القنطرة وإن لينه العقيلي بلا حجة

machine translational-Dāraquṭnī said: Ḥusayn b. Dhakwān al-Muʿallim was alone in narrating it. I say: This does not harm it, because he is trustworthy (thiqah) and well known, and the two Shaykhs relied on him as evidence, so he has crossed the bridge, even though al-ʿUqaylī declared him weak (layyin) without any proof.

    in سنن الدارقطني, p. 1544
  • Maghlaṭay

machine translationThe hadith of ʿAmr b. Shuʿayb, from Sulaymān the freed slave of Maymūnah, from Ibn ʿUmar, from the Prophet ﷺ: "Do not pray a prayer twice in one day" is not established as the hadith of Muʿādh is established, because of the disagreement over using the narrations of ʿAmr as evidence and his being alone in transmitting it.

    in سنن الدارقطني, p. 1544
