✧ He said: I prayed behind Ibn ʿAbbās in al-Baṣrah. In the first rakʿah he recited al-Ḥamd and the first verse of al-Baqarah; then he stood for the second and recited al-Ḥamd and the second verse of al-Baqarah; then he bowed. When he finished, he turned to us and said: Allah Almighty says, “So recite what is easy of it” [al-Muzzammil 20]. This is a good isnad, and it contains evidence for those who say that the meaning of His saying “So recite what is easy of it” is only after reciting the Opening of the Book. And Allah knows best.
