وَنَا أَبُو كَامِلٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ، نَا عُمَارَةُ بْنُ الْقَعْقَاعِ، عَنْ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ:

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَسْكُتُ بَيْنَ التَّكْبِيرِ وَالْقِرَاءَةِ هُنَيْهَةً. فَقُلْتُ: بِأَبِي وَأُمِّي، أَرَأَيْتَ سَكَتَاتِكَ بَيْنَ التَّكْبِيرِ وَالْقِرَاءَةِ، مَا تَقُولُ فِيهَا ؟ قَالَ: أَقُولُ: اللَّهُمَّ بَاعِدْ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ خَطَايَايَ كَمَا بَاعَدْتَ بَيْنَ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ، اللَّهُمَّ نَقِّنِي مِنْ خَطَايَايَ كَمَا يُنَقَّى الثَّوْبُ الْأَبْيَضُ مِنَ الدَّنَسِ، اللَّهُمَّ اغْسِلْنِي مِنْ خَطَايَايَ بِالثَّلْجِ وَالْبَرَدِ وَالْمَاءِ الْبَارِدِ

Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to remain silent for a little while between the takbir and the recitation. I said, 'May my father and mother be sacrificed for you, what do you say during your silences between the takbir and the recitation?' He said, 'I say: O Allah, distance me from my sins as You have distanced the East from the West; O Allah, purify me from my sins as a white garment is purified from filth; O Allah, wash me from my sins with snow, hail, and cold water.'
