حَدَّثَنَا زِيَادُ بْنُ أَيُّوبَ، نَا هُشَيْمٌ، نَا يَعْلَى بْنُ عَطَاءٍ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَاصِمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ:

قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ ؓ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، مُرْنِي بِشَيْءٍ أَقُولُهُ إِذَا أَصْبَحْتُ وَإِذَا أَمْسَيْتُ. فَقَالَ: قُلِ اللَّهُمَّ عَالِمَ الْغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ، فَاطِرَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ، رَبَّ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَمَلِيكَهُ، أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ، أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ نَفْسِي وَشَرِّ الشَّيْطَانِ وَشِرْكِهِ، قُلْهُ إِذَا أَصْبَحْتَ وَإِذَا أَمْسَيْتَ وَإِذَا أَخَذْتَ مَضْجَعَكَ

Translation

✧ Abu Bakr ؓ said: 'O Messenger of Allah, command me with something I should say when I enter upon morning and when I enter upon evening.' He said: 'Say: O Allah, Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, Originator of the heavens and the earth, Lord of everything and its Sovereign, I bear witness that there is no god but You. I seek refuge in You from the evil of my self and from the evil of Shaytan and his shirk. Say it when you enter upon morning and when you enter upon evening and when you take to your bed.'
