حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ غِيَاثٍ وَعَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ الْجُمَحِيُّ قَالَا: نَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ يَعْنِي الْبُنَانِيَّ، عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ النَّهْدِيِّ
أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ كَانَ فِي سَفَرٍ فَلَمَّا نَزَلُوا وُضِعَتِ الْمَوَائِدُ فَأَرْسَلُوا إِلَيْهِ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي فَقَالَ: إِنِّي صَائِمٌ. فَلَمَّا كَادُوا أَنْ يَفْرُغُوا جَاءَ فَأَكَلَ فَنَظَرَ الْقَوْمُ إِلَى رَسُولِهِمْ، فَقَالَ: مَا تَنْظُرُونَ ؟ وَاللهِ لَقَدْ

✧ Abū Hurayrah was on a journey. When they stopped, the tables were set, and they sent for him while he was praying. He said: “I am fasting.” When they had almost finished, he came and ate. The people looked at their messenger, and he said: “What are you looking at? By Allah, indeed...”
