✧ What 'Abd al-Rahman al-A'raj narrated from Abu Hurayrah

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، نَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَمَّادٍ، نَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ:

الْإِنْسَانُ ثَلَاثُمِائَةٍ وَسِتُّونَ عَظْمًا - أَوْ سِتَّةٌ وَثَلَاثُونَ سُلَامَى - عَلَيْهِ فِي كُلِّ يَوْمٍ صَدَقَةٌ. قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، فَمَنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ ؟ قَالَ: يَأْمُرُ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ أَوْ يَنْهَى عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ، قَالُوا: فَمَنْ لَمْ يَسْتَطِعْ ؟ قَالَ: فَلْيَرْفَعْ عَظْمًا مِنَ الطَّرِيقِ، قَالُوا: فَمَنْ لَمْ يَسْتَطِعْ، قَالَ: فَلْيَهْدِ سَبِيلًا، قَالَ: فَمَنْ لَمْ يَسْتَطِعْ ذَلِكَ ؟ فَلْيُعِنْ ضَعِيفًا، قَالُوا: فَمَنْ لَمْ يَسْتَطِعْ ذَلِكَ ؟ قَالَ: فَلْيَدَعِ النَّاسَ مِنْ شَرِّهِ

Translation

✧ A human being has three hundred and sixty bones—or three hundred and sixty joints—upon him each day is charity. They said: O Messenger of God, what about one who cannot find anything? He said: He should enjoin good or forbid evil. They said: What about one who cannot? He said: Let him remove a bone from the road. They said: What about one who cannot? He said: Let him guide someone on a path. He said: What about one who cannot do that? Let him help a weak person. They said: What about one who cannot do that? He said: Let him refrain from harming people.
